is an internationally recognized engineering and architecture consultancy providing integrated services from advisory and design to project management and supervision. Operating in over 60 countries, the company delivers multidisciplinary projects across infrastructure, environment, buildings and transport, with a strong focus on innovation and BIM-driven efficiency.
TPF Consultores is an internationally recognized company providing integrated Architecture and Engineering services. It has delivered landmark projects such as the Vasco da Gama Bridge and the Jardim do Tabaco Cruise Terminal in Lisbon. The company is strongly committed to innovation and the development of sustainable projects, supported by BIM methodologies.
By placing its trust in ARKANCE as a technology partner, TPF Consultores achieved significant benefits in terms of quality, resource reduction and optimization through the implementation of BIM methodology. This was our objective, and it remains our commitment to supporting the achievement of their goals. Once again, the use of BIM has contributed to delivering projects with greater quality and efficiency.

Integrated Engineering and Architecture Services
Founded in 1980, TPF Consultores provides fully integrated Engineering and Architecture services, covering Technical Advisory, Design, Project Management and Supervision of complex projects, combining innovation with technical excellence.
The TPF Group is now an internationally recognized player, with subsidiaries and branches in 44 countries and operations in 60 countries across five continents. It operates three dedicated Centers of Competence focused on Environment (Portugal), Buildings (France) and Transport Infrastructure (Spain). These centers support the group’s companies across different sectors, strengthening competitiveness and expertise in the markets where they operate.
As Engineering and Architecture consultants, TPF Consultores works across multiple sectors including Water and Sanitation, Environment, Agricultural Development, Urban Planning, Sport and Leisure, Education, Energy, Real Estate, Industry, Healthcare, Transport and Tourism. The company focuses on innovation and the development of sustainable projects, supported by BIM methodologies and processes.
TPF Consultores played a key role in the development and completion of landmark projects such as the Vasco da Gama Bridge, Alvalade XXI Stadium and the Jardim do Tabaco Cruise Terminal.
Water Supply to Communities
The use of BIM methodology in this project initially aimed to leverage its inherent benefits during the design and development phases. Subsequently, a broader strategy was defined to prepare the developed models for future use by clients during the infrastructure operation phase.
Applying BIM also enabled integrated information management across the different project components, creating a structured flow of data exchange between stakeholders. Furthermore, involving clients and their relevant departments from the early stages, not only in project development but also in future infrastructure management, ensured that their specific requirements were incorporated. This approach naturally added long-term value for asset management.
To minimize errors and ensure coordinated designs across all relevant disciplines, continuous verification of the geometric compliance of objects was carried out using Navisworks Manage. Design issues identified through analysis in this software were communicated bidirectionally via the BIM Collaborate cloud platform, using the respective plug-ins installed in both Navisworks and the modelling software, namely Revit.
Different Disciplines, One Solution
All BIM projects at TPF Consultores begin with the strategic definition of the modelling methodology. Depending on the project’s size, complexity and the disciplines involved, a decision is made whether each discipline should work in separate models or whether a single model approach should be adopted.
In the latter case, all project disciplines share and collaborate directly within the same model, using Autodesk Revit Worksets to separate elements by discipline. The use of parametric objects enables project elements and equipment to be updated with minimal effort throughout the process. This capability is particularly important, as project requirements and specifications often evolve during the development and detailing phases.
Reduction of Resources, Errors and Time
As a provider of integrated Engineering and Architecture services, TPF Consultores recognizes that models must cover the entire lifecycle of infrastructure and projects. This implies significant changes in how project information is presented and how models communicate that information.
BIM models enable automated data recording, reducing the resources and time required for documentation while minimizing the risk of human error associated with manual data entry.
ARKANCE played a key role in adapting the licenses acquired by TPF Consultores and provided essential support during the transition to Autodesk Construction Cloud (formerly BIM 360). This included clarifying platform functionalities and delivering employee training. ARKANCE also provided support related to Forge.
The transition from projects traditionally carried out in 2D using AutoCAD to a BIM methodology based on Revit enabled us to improve the quality of the drawings delivered to the client, reduce and better manage project timelines, correct issues that systematically occurred in 2D which 3D model visualization allows us to detect and resolve, and become better designers, thanks to the increased complexity and level of detail achievable when using Revit.
Independent Models and 3D Infrastructure
In larger or more complex projects involving multiple infrastructures, it is sometimes necessary to manage several independent Revit models, potentially with one model per discipline for each planned infrastructure. The models are always linked to one another, enabling a structured flow of information exchange between different stakeholders.
3D visualization of the infrastructures proved to be highly valuable in explaining the proposed solutions, which are often not easy to understand through the presentation of two-dimensional drawings alone.
Throughout project development, information was shared via the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform, where different versions of the developed models were made available. Within the platform, information is organized by discipline, allowing stakeholders to review, analyze and provide feedback efficiently.
The variability of the work we produce makes it very difficult to compare methodologies, but we have no doubt that the introduction of BIM has brought clear advantages in terms of the quality of the work delivered. One of the most evident benefits is the consistency between the designed elements, as well as improved coordination between disciplines. The use of tools such as Navisworks introduces a level of quality assurance that did not exist in the traditional methodology.
Asset Management, Operation and Maintenance
In conclusion, the use of BIM has contributed to the delivery of pioneering projects by involving, from the outset, technical specialists who traditionally only participated at the end of the construction phase, namely in asset management, operation and maintenance. This approach drives companies towards broader modernization trends in project execution and enables the development of more advanced, higher-quality projects, delivered more cost-effectively, within shorter timeframes and with reduced risk.
Assets will be handed over in the form of BIM models, incorporating the future requirements of each technical department and adding value throughout the asset lifecycle. The advantages of applying BIM in project development extend far beyond benefits for designers alone, creating favorable conditions for contractors, inspection entities and infrastructure managers to also benefit from its implementation.
